It's been a looooong time since my last post. Life got super hectic and painting got pushed off the list of priorities. The piece I was working on just wasn't coming together. I'm going to let that sit for a while and work on other projects.

I am going to participate in Inktober this year! I made it one day last year and then just couldn't keep up. I have gotten semi-adjusted to my crazy schedule, so I think I'll be able to make it every day this coming October. I will be posting my ink drawings daily on Instagram, so keep a lookout! I bought a dip pen, some new mixing palettes, and a mixed media journal just for Inktober. I'm really excited to try out a dip pen for the first time. From what I've researched, it gives a lot of control and beautiful line variation (if one has a flex nib, of course). I'm also going to experiment with ink washes and really focus on improving my understanding of values and contrast. By doing so, I hope to bring more life and vibrancy to my illustrations.
